Nicola

Meet the Manager

Nicola McKinlay is Manager at Summers Inverurie.

Hi, my name is Nicola McKinlay and I have worked for Summers since March 2009. I began my career in childcare in August 2005 when I attended Aberdeen college for a year to study NC in Childcare & Early Education. I then got my first job in Childcare where I went on to gain my SVQ Level 3.

I began working for Summers in their Victoria Street nursery as a nursery nurse within the 3-5 room where I worked my way up to 3-5 room Assistant Room Leader.  I then became 3-5 Room Leader and Supervisor at Wee Rascals Too in Kintore, where I eventually became Manager in September 2013.

I am now based here at Summers in Inverurie as a Senior Nursery Manager.  Being a Senior Nursery Manager I will co-ordinate the formulation and sharing of best practice in implementing the Curriculum for Excellence in the Aberdeenshire Summers Nurseries.

I am very passionate in my role as Nursery Manager ensuring the nursery is a safe, fun and happy place for the children, staff, parents and carers alike.  My team and I here at Inverurie show great commitment to the nursery, and implement the Pre-birth to Three and the Curriculum for Excellence on a daily basis by observing the children and using next steps to plan activities throughout the day.

Nicola's Qualifications Include:

  • NC in Early Education & Childcare
  • SVQ 2 in Childrens Care Learning & Development
  • SVQ 3 in Childrens Care Learning & Development
  • SVQ 4 in Childrens Care Learning & Development
