APRIL NEWSLETTER 2014

Dear Parents/Carers,

I can't believe that Easter has been and gone already! I hope some of you managed to get some well-deserved time off! Now it's time to look forward to the summer and hopefully some nice hot weather.

Staff

Good luck to Becca who is going off on maternity leave on the 5th of May. We can't wait to meet baby number 2!

Congratulations to Emma Davidson who is also expecting her second baby in September!

I'm sure by now you have all met our new girls in the Busy Bee Room - Claire and Ainslie. Claire is working a Monday, Tuesday and Friday, taking over from Becca who moved to the Cheeky Monkey room.

Ainslie is working a Tuesday to Friday at the moment, and started when the numbers increased in the Busy Bee Room. The variation is only temporary and will end in August. Ainslie will then take over from Emma in the Little Bunnies room to cover her maternity leave.

Congratulations to Joanne Noble in the Little Bunnies room on completing her SVQ 3 last month! J

Care Inspectorate Report

We are pleased to announce that we now have our new Care Inspectorate Inspection report on our website which was carried out in March this year. Click on Our Nurseries, followed by More information under Wee Rascals and then More information under SCISWIS to read the report. The inspection was done jointly with Wee Rascals Too across the road and we are all really pleased with the results. (stated overleaf) Many thanks to the staff for their hard work.

Sharing Day

The Busy Bees and the Cheeky Monkeys have a Sharing Day once a week. This gives the children an opportunity to take something into nursery and tell their peers all about it. We will then give them time throughout the day to come together in groups and play with their toy from home. Can the Busy Bee parents please have a look through the Sharing day box outside the Busy Bee room to see if anything belongs to their child. Dates for May for Sharing days in both rooms are Friday 9th, Monday 12th, Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 28th.

Eco Schools

We have been making good progress with the greenhouse. Thank you to Gemma and Amanda for giving up their time and cutting the plastic bottles to size! Our joiner has also been very busy and has been working on the frame for the greenhouse. We are looking forward to growing our vegetables again.

Charity

Sport Relief Day

Thank you to everyone who generously donated money to Sports relief. We raised an amazing £86.66. The Great Wee Rascals Bake off was deservedly won by the Little Bunnies room with their amazing Malteser Tiffen - Well done Little Bunnies!!  - and well done to the Cheeky Monkeys and Busy Bees for taking part. We all had lots of fun baking for you, but we were definitely glad when it was over – we certainly 'tasted' far too much that week!

Policies of the Term

The Polices of the term are as follows:-

13. Fire Prevention and Control

26. Transition to Primary 1

28. Child Observation Policy

30. Child Enrolment Policy

You can find our policies in the front hallway, so please feel free to read them at any time.

The Car Park

Can parents/carers please ensure you are parking in the designated parking spaces provided when dropping off/picking up your children. The car park is not that big so spaces are minimal at busy times and taking up 2 spaces can be a little frustrating on others trying to park.

Uniform

Please contact myself or speak to one of the girls in the Busy Bee room if you wish to purchase a nursery tee shirt or sweat shirt. These are £8 and £9 respectively, and are for the Busy Bee children only. They are entirely optional to wear.

Website

Our website is updated regularly and has all sorts of information on it, such as up and coming events, trips, sharing day dates, policy of the term, staff news etc. Please visit www.summersnurseries.com and click on 'Nursery News' then 'Wee Rascals' to find out more.

Dates for your Diary

Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd June- Parents Evening for the Busy Bee children.  Tuesday 3rd June –  Little Bunnies and Cheeky Monkeys Parents Evening.

Time slots will be allocated to each parent. You will receive a slip for you to write your preferred day/time in the near future. We will try our best to allocate your preferred day/time or as close to it as possible.

Wednesday 25th June at 4.00pm– Graduation for Pre-school children going to school in August 2014.

The children will get their photo taken prior to the graduation. A sheet will be provided nearer the time to allocate time slots for children that do not attend nursery on a Wednesday afternoon.

Saturday 5th July- Sports day at the field behind Kintore primary school.

Sponsor forms will go out prior to this with all proceeds going to our charity of the year which is Cancer Research UK. We have asked that all money be used for research into Brain Tumours as one of our nursery parents from our Inverurie nursery sadly passed away last year.

Kind Regards
