Term 1 Nursery Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers

We would firstly like to welcome all our new families to the nursery. We are looking forward to getting to know you all.

Nicola Jordan of the Busy Bee Room has unfortunately left us to start a new life in London with her husband and children, and to be closer to her family.

As a result of Nicola leaving, Diana has had a slight change in hours and her day off at the moment has now changed from a Friday to a Tuesday.

As some of you may be aware we sponsor a child through Action Aid and aim to do something once a term to raise money for Nirmi.  This term we had a bake sale and the £98.00 raised will go to Action Aid.

Nirmi is now 10 years old and lives in Chachro in the South East of Pakistan.  She is one child of six and her family are Hindu.  Nirmi's home is a mud house with just 4 walls and a thatch roof.  Nirmi's father earns a living by doing casual labour and her mother is responsible for household activities and works on the family farm.  Nirmi is enrolled in the local school.  ActionAid will support the communities here to tackle issues such as livelihood, water, discrimination, education and healthcare.  By sponsoring Nirmi you will be supporting her entire community, so they can look forward to a brighter future together.

The Busy Bees write to Nirmi and send pictures they have drawn and we hear from Nirmi in return.

Megan has now completed her SVQ Level 3 and is a fully qualified Nursery Nurse – Well done Megan.

Steph, Rachel and Allana all continue working towards their level 3 and are doing really well.

Staff have also attended 'How good is our early learning and childcare?' training this term.

Trips and Outings

The Busy Bees Term 1 trip will be on Tuesday the 4th October for all children who attend on that day.  It will be to Wynford farm.  Individual letters with details and permission slips will come to you in due course.

Angela of Abricabeats has now returned and will be visiting the Busy Bees on a Tuesday at 2.15pm throughout Term 1.

The Cheeky Monkeys enjoyed a visit from a digger recently during their 'People who help us' topic.  If any parents are in a profession or know of anyone in a profession that may like to visit during topics then please come forward!  We like all parents to be actively involved in topics.

The Little Bunnies have been exploring the local community and have enjoyed a few visits to the park with a picnic snack.

It has been a big decision for Wee Rascals Too, but without further ado we have decided to jump into this century and join what seems like the rest of the world and create our own Facebook page.

You should all have now received a letter with information in regards to our Facebook page, the feedback we have received so far has been great and really positive!

The Little Bunnies have covered a variety of topics recently, including learning all about Pirates, Royalty and Space.  The children particularly enjoyed their Royal tea party!  At the moment the children are exploring different shapes and using them to create different images and art work.

The Cheeky Monkeys have been busy learning about 'People who help us' and discussed the wide variety of people in our community who help us and how we seek their help.  They are now learning about our 5 senses and are developing their sensory area.

The Busy Bees thoroughly enjoyed a Space topic and the learning wall was looking magnificent.  The children took part in many art and craft based space activities but also spoke about the role of astronauts and participated in some astronaut drama time.  The children have very recently moved onto the role of Doctors and have transformed the house corner into a hospital.

The staff continue to take into account the children's ideas and interests and in response to this they plan topics around them!
