Term 4 News

Dear Parents/Carers

I would like to start by welcoming any new families who have recently joined us here at Summers Nursery.  We hope you and your child enjoy your time with us.

Sports relief 2016

A big thank you to everyone who donated to Sports Relief.  You raised a total of £121.75.

Staff News

Some of you may have met Diana Livermore.  Diana has joined us as holiday cover and you will be seeing lots of her in the summer time.  Diana has previously worked in nurseries and has a Level 3 in Childcare.

Maddy is expecting her first baby boy on the 18th August!  We are all very excited for Maddy and look forward to meeting her new arrival.  Maddy will look for her maternity leave to commence in July, but we will keep you posted of dates.  The children are also very happy for Maddy and enjoying tracking the progress of her baby using a timeline and comparing the size of the baby to different fruit and vegetables!

Staff Training

Ali Dalgarno, Ashleigh Duguid, Samantha Gilchrist and Chloe Taylor are continuing to work towards their level 3, and Chloe Grant is working towards her level 2 training.

We have also had some staff attended Child Protection and Infection Control training over the past term.

Curriculum for Excellence evening

Thank you to those of you who attended our CFE evening for more information on the pre-school funding and how we incorporate the curriculum into our daily routine within our 3-5 room.  Thank you for taking the time to fill out the evaluations provided, the comments and feedback are much appreciated and welcome. Some of the comments received were :

·    "I was going to put my child to school nursery but we have now changed our minds due to all the information received.  Thank you."

·    "The evening was better than expected.  It was good to hear what the nursery can offer and how they encourage the children to learn."

If anyone would like more information on the Curriculum for Excellence then please do not hesitate to come and see myself.

Parents Evening

Parents evening will be held on Tuesday the 14th June this year.  Letters have been handed out with more information and we would appreciate if you could fill out the tear off slip and return it to allow us to place timeslots.  You will each receive a 10 minute timeslot to discuss progress with your child's keyworker on the evening.  Reports will be handed out the week prior to parents evening and we ask that you bring them back on the night signed and with any feedback you wish to add.

Electronic Learning Diaries

We are pleased to announce that we have been working on our new electronic learning diaries. These diaries record observations of your child's progress and will replace the old profile folders which you will get back in due course. You will be able to access these, and a letter will be going out which will explain how to access your child's diary. We believe this system will be more effective and will also give you more up to date information about your child on a more regular basis.

Charity of the Year

The Charity in which Summers Nurseries have chosen this year to donate to will be Sunrise Partnership SCIO.  They are a free, confidential service for children and young people up to age 18 who have been affected by loss and bereavement.  Sunrise Partnership aim to help children and young people to deal with loss, change and bereavement in a healthy and positive way, by using therapeutic tools and strategies tailored to the individual child and their age and stage of development.  For any more information please visit their website - www.sunrisepartnership.yolasite.com

Coffee Morning

Thank you to everyone who attended our Coffee morning on Saturday the 19th March.  A massive total of £573.00 was raised throughout the morning between the bake sale, face painting, tattoos, the raffle table and much more.  Scarlett McBain guessed the correct square on the treasure map and will receive a small prize, and Mya Holloway guessed how many sweeties were in the jar correctly!  All money raised will go to our yearly charity.

We have Summers Nursery sweatshirts at £9.00 and tee shirts at £8.00 that you can order for children in the 3-5 room.  These are entirely optional.  If you are interested in purchasing then please speak to myself, or a member of staff in the room
