WEE RASCALS

JULY NEWSLETTER 2015

Dear Parents/Carers,

The year is just passing by. I can’t quite believe it’s the summer holidays already!! It’s always a sad time of year for us here at Wee Rascals - saying goodbye to all of our school leavers never gets any easier. The Graduation was enjoyable for the Busy Bees who will be going to school after the summer, and we hope you enjoyed their performance. We were all pleased with the Graduation photographs which will remind you and your child of their time spent at nursery. We would like to wish everyone moving on from Wee Rascals all the best - we will miss you all very much!

Staff

Little Bunnies

Tyler Webster started her permanent hours on Wednesday the 8th July in the Little Bunnies room - she will be working a full day Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:30am - 18:00pm. Tyler is covering Ainslie’s Maternity leave.

Ainslie had a beautiful baby girl on the 15th June called Ceci. Both Ainslie and baby are both doing very well, and we would like to wish her and her family all the best in their new adventure with Ceci.

Cheeky Monkeys

Jade is now settling in well to her role as Cheeky Monkey Room Leader. Jade’s hours of work are a full day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:30am -18:00pm.

Busy Bees

Jo Scott has settled well into the Busy Bee room. Jo has moved out form our Victoria Street nursery and has taken over from Faye who has now gone to work in Victoria Street. Jo works a full day Monday from 8.00am-5.45pm, Tuesday from 8.00am-5.30pm, Friday from 8.00am-5.45pm, and a Wednesday morning from 8.30am -12.00pm - she is in the process of doing her level 3 training.

Training

Sarah Lawson from the Little Bunnies room has started her level 2 training, and Alice Berry from the Busy Bees room has started her level 3 training.

Reduction of hours for School leavers

A letter has now been put out to all school leavers regarding sessions required when your child starts school. We are aware that the first few weeks of school are just mornings or afternoons, and some parents may still require childcare for the remainder of the day. If you wish to use any sessions then please see myself or Suzanne to book the days you require. These can be used until your child starts school on a full time basis. An additional 12.00pm to 6.00pm session is available only to these children, and we would appreciate if you could indicate which session you will require.

Improvement Plan

We have just started up a new nursery Improvement plan which is ‘Learning about our Community’ during July and August. Children in all age groups will have the opportunity to go for walks around the Kintore area to explore what facilities there are to offer. Once we discover what is in Kintore, we will arrange to have small trips to some of the facilities, writing to them asking if we can come for a visit to see what happens, for example, a shop visit. You will find out what we discover on our learning wall over the coming months.

Sports Day

We have rescheduled our Sports for Saturday the 18th July. We have managed to book the Kintore Hall for the 18th July so if we end up with another wet day we will continue with Sports day indoors.

Can I please ask that all sponsor money is taken into nursery by the Monday the 3rd of August. All money raised will be going towards ‘Save the Children’. Thanks you for your support.

We took part in the Northsound Radio ‘Cash for Kids’ Super Hero day on the 15th May. All the children looked fab! We hope they all had as much fun as the ladies did being superheroes. We managed to raise 173.47 on the day, which was just amazing. Collectively, as a Summers Nursery we raised 346.08. Thank you all very much for always donating generously. The money raised will go to helping children in the local area.

Trips

The Busy Bee room are heading off to Haddo House on Tuesday the 14th July for their summer trip. All parents of the children in that day, along with anyone who has not been on a trip yet this academic year from the Busy Bee room will be going. We will be leaving nursery at 9.15am, and when we arrive at Haddo House, the Ranger will meet us there and take us on a wildlife adventure!! We will then be having a picnic lunch (provided by the nursery) and after lunch we will go on a treasure hunt before playing in the park and having our snack JWe will arrive back at nursery at approximately 4.15pm.

The Cheeky Monkeys are heading off to Smugglers Cove on Tuesday the 21st of July, and they hope to collect some interesting shells on the beach to take back to nursery, so hopefully we will not get too much rain.

Breakfast Club

Just a quick reminder that the breakfast club is from 7.30am until 8.15ameach morning for those who wish to have breakfast. Snack is provided at 9:30am if you cannot make it on time for breakfast club. We would request that if your child is under 1 that you provide a suitable alternative for Breakfast.

Parents Evening

Several parents attended parents evening, and we received many positive comments. We hope that you were able to benefit from the report and the evening, and asked any relevant questions you may have had regarding your child.

Questionnaires

Please could you continue to complete and return your questionnaires as soon as possible. Comments from the questionnaires will contribute to our ongoing Improvement/Development plan, so it is vital that we receive your feedback.

Policies of the Term

You can find our policies in the front hallway, so please feel free to read them at any time.

New Policies will be put up at the end of July so please keep a look out for the change in nursery and also on the website.

Uniform

Please contact myself or speak to one of the girls in the Busy Bee room if you wish to purchase a nursery tee shirt or sweat shirt. These are 8 and 9 respectively, and are for the Busy Bee children only. They are entirely optional to wear.

Website

Our website is updated regularly and has all sorts of information on it, such as up and coming events, trips, sharing day dates, policy of the term, staff news etc. Please visit www.summersnurseries.com and click on ‘Nursery News’ then ‘Wee Rascals’ to find out more. There is more than one page, and you can move onto the other pages by clicking the page number located at the bottom.
