General Nursery Newsletter July 2016

Summers Nursery Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers

We would firstly like to welcome all our new families to the nursery. We are looking forward to getting to know you all. We hope all of you who have had the pleasure of setting off on your summer holidays have had a lovely time!

You will have now met Diana Livermore who is based within our Busy Bee room. Diana previously worked at our Inverurie nursery as a relief member of staff whilst working at a playgroup close to her home. Diana is now based here on a permanent full time basis, working Monday to Thursday 8.15am to 5.30pm. She has a level 3 in Childcare and has many years experience working in the childcare sector. Diana began with us on Monday the 23rd May and has settled into her role extremely well and has already been voted ‘Employee of the Month’ by staff! Nicola Jordan has also resumed a permanent position within the Busy Bee room. Nicola has been working with us as a relief member of staff since November 2015 and will now be working Thursdays and Fridays 7.30am to 6.00pm.

Thank you to everyone who attended Sports day. It was a great turn out and all the feedback on the evaluations has been lovely! Between money raised on the day and sponsors, we have raised 496.00 to go towards our charity of the year which is Sunrise Partnership. This charity offers a free and confidential service to children up to 18 years who have been affected by loss and bereavement. Thank you all very much for your generous donations.

Thank you to everyone who attended the recent Parents evening and also the Pre-school Graduation ceremony. We wish the children who are sadly leaving us to go to school the very best of luck in their new adventures!

Electronic Learning Diaries

We are pleased to announce that we have been working on our new electronic learning diaries. These diaries record observations of your child's progress and will replace the old profile folders which you will get back in due course. You will be able to access these, and a letter will be going out within the next few weeks which will explain how to access your child's diary. We believe this system will be more effective and will also give you more up to date information about your child on a more regular basis.

Nicola Jordan has now begun her Level 3 training. Megan, Steph, Rachel and Allana all continue working towards their level 3 and are doing really well. Staff have also attended First Aid and Infection Control training this term.

Trips and Outings

The Busy Bees enjoyed a trip to Doonies Farm and then went onto Duthie park. Some of the highlights included feeding the farm animals and exploring the Winter Gardens, before playing in the play area at the Duthie Park. The Cheeky Monkeys enjoyed a trip to the newly developed Wynford farm. The children explored the outdoor area and saw the animals before heading inside to tire themselves out in the large play area. The Little Bunnies have been exploring the local community whilst going for walks in the buggies in this lovely weather we have had recently!

The Little Bunnies have covered a variety of topics recently, including learning all about Colours, Nursery Rhymes, The Hungry Caterpillar and a popular one was Growing up. Thank you all to everyone who took in baby and family photographs to create our “Then and now” wall display. The Cheeky Monkeys have been busy learning about Under the Sea and made a lovely new, colourful birthday chart in relation to this! They have now moved onto learning about Transport and have spoke about the importance of road safety throughout this topic also! The Busy Bees thoroughly enjoyed a Mini beasts topic and looked after caterpillars in the process, releasing them in the garden once they had turned into butterflies! At the moment the children are learning about Pets and have participated in many activities including creating a bar chart of pets they have at home! The staff continue to take into account the children’s ideas and interests and in response to this they plan topics around them!

Policies of the Term

Our Policies and Procedures for this term are: Policy 5- Equal opportunities Policy 13 – Fire prevention These policies of the term are displayed in the main hallway close to the front door.
